For anyone looking for a show quality, truly different, Street Rod, check out this awesome Dodge pickup that was featured in the September 2009 issue of Street Rodder magazine. The Dodge Brothers never built one like this but King Pin Hot Rods of San Jose, California sure did. It has so many mods that I do not have space to list them but here are the vitals. Lets start from the bottom up since that is what they did. It rides on a stock Dodge frame that has now been boxed for strength. A Ford 8 inch rear end with parallel leaf springs, Gabriel shocks, are out back and a Fatman Mustang II independent suspension with drop spindles, 11 inch disc brakes, Heidts narrowed control arms, and rack & pinon steering are up front. It all rides on 15 inch Wheel Vintique Ford style wire wheels, detailed to show quality and accented with a painted frame and stainless gas tank. The body had hundreds of hours spent filling the roof, crank hole, widening the rear fenders, adding 37 Ford tail lights, and real wood inserts laid between the hand fabricated custom bed. It is all steel except for the fenders and door skins. A power retractable license plate frame was incorporated for a cleaner look. RM paint covers the beautiful body and is show quality. Power comes from a 1968 Chevy 350 V-8 outfitted with fuelie 2.02/1.60 Camel-Hump heads, an RV grind Comp Cam, polished Weiand manifold, Edelbrock 650 carburetor, Griffin aluminum radiator, electric fan, ceramic coated block hugger headers, Borla mufflers, electronic ignition and a billet dress up kit. A GM Turbo 350 gets the power to the ground via a custom shifter. The immaculate interior features a custom bench seat, covered in Lexus beige leather/vinyl and matching headliner. A GM tilt steering column is topped with a LeCarra custom wheel. Painless Wiring system was used to hook it all up making the stock gauges and United speedometer work.
